What Are the Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2021 Cherokee?
Three engines are available to come under the hood of the 2021 Jeep Cherokee, as well as two drivetrains and one transmission. Kicking off the engine lineup is Jeep’s 2.4L I-4 cylinder engine that pushes out 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque while maintaining an estimated 26 MPG. The next available engine is standard on the Latitude LUX, and Trailhawk trims. It’s a 3.2L V6 that provides drivers with an impressive 271 horsepower, 239 lb-ft of torque, and 24 MPG. The last engine option is a turbocharged 2.0L I-4 that cranks out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque while getting 26 MPG. Four-wheel drive is standard on the super-capable Trailhawk trim and optional on all other trims, while front-wheel drive is the norm across the rest of the lineup. All three Cherokee engines come mated to a smooth-sailing nine-speed automatic transmission.
2021 Jeep Cherokee Interior and Exterior Features
While it’s true, the Cherokee has been in the Jeep lineup for almost fifty years now; the 2021 Jeep Cherokee has a very modern feel to it. The entertainment and climate controls are all logically placed and well within reach of the driver and front passenger. Lots of storage compartments provide plenty of space to bring everything your journey needs. All trim levels have comfortable seating for both front and rear passengers. The Cherokee’s technology might just be its most attractive feature. The entry-level Cherokee Latitude comes with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a full suite of driver aids, and more. Higher trim levels offer an 8.4-inch touchscreen, keyless entry/ignition, remote start, heated seats, and more! The Cherokee’s exterior gives off an aggressive stare with narrow pointed LED headlights and a bold grille, home to Jeep’s iconic seven-slot design. The rest of the Cherokee gives off a rugged yet refined appearance.
What About the 2021 Jeep Cherokee’s Safety Features?
As is true for all Jeep models, the Cherokee is as safe as it is capable and comfortable. Impact energy is directed away from the cabin by a high-strength steel frame. At the same time, occupants are protected by front airbags, driver and passenger side hip airbags, driver’s knee airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags. On top of all the standard safety equipment, the 2021 Jeep Cherokee comes standard with an extensive list of driver assists. These include a rearview camera, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, blindspot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, and full-speed collision warning with automatic emergency braking. The Limited trim adds even more safety with automatic high beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, and adaptive cruise control.
